Annual exhibition by the Gozo Philatelic Society opens Friday
The 17th annual exhibition by the Gozo Philatelic Society opens this coming Friday in the Gozo Ministry Hall and remains open to the public till Friday, the 18th (including Saturday and Sunday, the 12th and 13th).
As usual, stamp collectors and the general public will have a wide range of items to view, including stamps in the sports theme (this having been Olympic year), social philately, junior offerings and samples from the Juncker Melitensia collection. Entrance to the exhibition is free..
Distribution of certificates and prizes, which are sponsored by MaltaPost, to all exhibitors takes place during the GPS Annual General Meeting in January.
Visitors will be able to pick up copies of the latest GPS Newsletter, the full-colour quarterly which was awarded a Large Silver in Canberra earlier this year.
Stamp collectors’ exhibition
This year’s participants in the Gozo Philatelic Society annual exhibition included stamp collectors from France and Australia, besides those from Gozo and Malta.
The exhibition, held at the Gozo Ministry hall, Victoria, was split into various thematic sections, including junior, traditional, postal history and social philately, as well as one on the theme ‘Sportsmen or not’.
A prominent place was accorded to the Large Silver award presented to the society’s newsletter in Canberra earlier this year. Photo shows the Maltese judges adjudicating the exhibits.
